Workshops and programs

Group teaching for writers, treatment programs, workplaces, and events.

Booking editing and tutoring projects for November and December 2026.

Generative poetry workshops

Four- or six-week online workshops of six to ten writers. Each week we read a few poems closely, write to a prompt built from them, and share drafts. Themes rotate: poems of place, poems of memory, received forms from the sonnet to the ghazal. Open to beginners and to writers with a manuscript underway.

Four weeks from $180 per writer. Private group workshops for libraries, schools, and writing groups are quoted per session.

Recovery writing program

Built on 60 Sonnets for Addiction Recovery, a sequence of Shakespearean sonnets that follows the twelve steps. The program pairs each sonnet with workbook prompts, and the Practitioner Guide shows counselors how to run sessions without a writing background. Expanded tracks use haiku, letter poems, gratitude poems, and memoir essay.

Writing at work

Half-day and full-day sessions for engineering, manufacturing, and technical teams: writing specifications people can follow, emails that get a decision, and documentation that survives staff turnover. I wrote and trained people on specifications for two decades, and I teach from real documents your team brings.

From $1,200 for a half-day session for up to 15 people.

Poems on demand

I write a short original poem on the spot for each guest from a word or a memory they offer, and they take the poem home. I did this as guest poet at the Iowa City Summer Block Party for Prompt Press, and it suits weddings, fundraisers, conferences, and bookstore events.

From $300 for two hours.

Talks

Talks for classes, conferences, and companies on AI and creative practice, the therapeutic uses of AI, and computational constraints as poetic form.
